How I got into Special Education

When I was a freshman in high school my mom came to me a few weeks before school was going to begin and she said to me, would you mind if I would at your high school full time. At first I was not happy with the decision that she made but little did I know it was going to change my entire outlook on life. Seeing my mom in the hallways at first was embarassing and it eventually got better and towards the end of of my freshman year it was no big deal at all. On day after school when I got home my mom asked me if I could give her a hand in her Special Education classroom during my lunch period she had a lot of extra work to do and she needed some extra help. I was not very excited about leaving my only free time to go help in her classroom. Once I got there everything changed for me all of the kids really reacted well to me and I really enjoyed being there. From then on I went to her class once a week during lunch just to give my mom and hand. This experience got me to where I am today if it wasn't for all of this I would never be a Special Education Major.

  1. Hi Alexander, it is interesting to know about your experience in this field.

But for this activity, you need to introduce your audience to inportant issues or comments related to your topic. For example, you can talk about the role of assistive technology in Special Edu. Another good example can be the policies or principles that affect the field most.

In all, the key point is that you need to have a target audience and to get them familiar with the important or intereting issues you think that is important. I am looking forward to your postings.
